Marjolein is a marine biologist and co-owner of the research bureau GiMaRIS. She has carried out dozens of shellfish species inventories in harbors and bays throughout the North West of Europe. Besides her job, she also focusses on her PhD research for which she compares shellfish transport to pleasure crafts as potential transportvectors for non-native species. Prior to GiMaRIS she worked for several years for a environmental consulting firm which specializes in arranging environmental permits for companies in port areas.
